Today, grandma and daughter will show you How to Preserve Konda Kawum Using Kithul Treacle (Kithul Pani)

Rice flour, treacle, and coconut oil are used to make Konda Kavum (Oil Cake), which is a highly authentic and traditional treat. After mixing the ingredients and allowing the dough to rest, this sweet takes the shape of a konde, or a women's hair knot. Making them requires a certain level of talent. When pouring the mixture into the oil, make careful to do it slowly, then stop and pour the mixture on top. An eakle or wooden skewer inserted in the middle of the kavum will help to make the konde and will also allow hot oil to pass through the kavum evenly cooking it. On New Year's Day or for any other traditional or ceremonial event, this treat is a requirement.

Cooked Konda Kavum was once placed in large pots of Kithul Treacle, which were then firmly tied and hung in a kitchen nook. They brought them out for a cup of tea after a few months after the new year. Villages are still experiencing it. Those soaked in treacle are delicious.

We hope you enjoy cooking with Grandma and daughter.

Love you All!
